General Foreman - #2147886

We are working with a leading national contractor with a region office in Southwest of England. The company have operated in this region for many years and have a secured worked load made up of long-term frameworks, across environmental and highways and broader civil engineering. Due to a continually expanding pipeline of work, my client requires a General Foreman to work on highways, groundworks, bridge refurbishment, utilities, and traffic management across their sites in Bristol & North Somerset.

What the employer is looking for:

• Proven experience as a General Foreman or Site Supervisor in civil engineering.
• Strong groundworks and highways experience.
• Experience coordinating utility diversions with service providers.
• Experience working within traffic management/live highway environments.
• Ability to manage several work fronts and lead direct labour and subcontractors.
• Good understanding of HSEQ requirements and site documentation.
• SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
• CSCS card.
• Ability to work closely with a Site Agent and keep projects on programme.

What the job involves day to day:

You'd essentially be the hands-on site leader, making sure the planned works are delivered safely and efficiently. That includes coordinating crews, plant, subcontractors, and utilities; monitoring progress; maintaining site records; dealing with issues as they arise; and ensuring the work matches the drawings/specification. The role appears particularly suited to someone who has worked on live highway/civil engineering sites, rather than someone whose experience is primarily in building construction.
