Our Safeguarding Lead Trustee takes a strategic, advisory and governance role, particularly to support, advise and guide the Board on safeguarding matters.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone to ensure that SEND And You meets its obligation under the statutory guidance Working Together To Safeguard Children. They will be experienced in safeguarding able to understand and share safeguarding matters in an accessible way prepared to work in a team able to exercise independent judgement able to manage short, medium and long-term strategies.

What will you be doing?

The Safeguarding Lead Trustee’s main duties, in addition to their wider responsibilities as a Trustee, include ensuring that safeguarding is at the heart of our daily practice, strategic planning and culture. They will also be an active member of the SAY Safeguarding Team. We are looking for some experience in a safeguarding role, although you do not need to have been a Safeguarding Lead Trustee before – we provide induction, training and support. At SEND And You the day-to-day safeguarding responsibilities are taken by the Designated Safeguarding Lead and the Safeguarding Lead Trustee will not generally carry out operational functions. We expect experience/understanding of, or interest in, Special Educational Needs/Disability in all our Trustees.
