University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust
Are you looking to get more experience as a Paediatric Dietitian and want to join a dynamic forward thinking team within a tertiary children’s hospital?

We are a large friendly department of Dietitians, supported by Dietetic Support Workers, Special Feed Unit staff and administration staff. You will have a fantastic opportunity to gain a broad experience in paediatric dietetics.

The post will be within a rotation role, which includes: BMT and oncology, general medicine, renal, cardiology, surgery, burns, PICU, neonatology, neurology, ketogenic diet, obesity, diabetes and community. The successful candidate will work within one of these specialities for the 12 month period. However, there may be the opportunity for experience within other teams, if desired. Our other teams’ specialities include: gastroenterology, cystic fibrosis, inherited metabolic diseases, and Barth’s syndrome. We also have a rapidly growing outpatient service which includes: feeding problems, faltering growth, allergy and complex needs.

Our department is committed to student training, quality improvement, research and audit. We pride ourselves on our commitment to continuing professional development. All Band 6 staff are led and supervised by a Band 7 or Band 8 Advanced Specialist Dietitian.

We are part of the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). Bristol is a fantastic city to live and work in and full of opportunities, with great travel links across the UK and beyond.

You ideally should have at least one-year’s paediatric experience or have a good grounding in dietetics. However, we will also consider experienced adult Dietitians who have a passion to learn paediatrics within a tertiary unit. You must be enthusiastic and flexible. Additionally, you must be a good communicator and team worker who can self-direct your learning quickly. You should be computer literate.

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, bringing together a combined workforce of over 13,000 staff and over 100 different clinical services across 10 different sites, serving a core population of more than 500,000 people across South West England.

As a forward- thinking multi-award winning Trust and a digital exemplar committed to improving patient care, our world-leading research and innovations are having a positive local and global impact.

Our hospitals are spread across Bristol and Weston, join us and you can enjoy the very best of both worlds; city living within a stone’s throw of the countryside or beside the seaside, both with easy access to all that the South West has to offer.

UHBW is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. As an equal opportunities employer actively working towards a diverse workforce we aim to recruit and retain a workforce which represents the rich diversity of the local population at all levels and are committed to designing our services around the needs of individual patients and those around them.
