Role Overview:
This is a new opportunity for a Development Manager within Bristol City Leap’s Development Team. This role will play a key role in the development of Bristol City Leap’s portfolio of low carbon energy projects across Bristol City Council’s estate and with other clients, covering the full suite of low carbon technologies including Grid connected solar PV & Wind, energy efficiency, heat pumps, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, batteries etc, during the development phase ( from sales through to contract award).
Strong project and/or programme management as well as excellent technical and organisational skills are fundamental, as is the ability to liaise with people at all levels of the organisation.
This position is based in Bristol City Leap’s offices in Bristol, United Kingdom.

Relevant degree, e.g. engineering, or relevant equivalent industry or vocational qualification AND/OR; and Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a role involving the development of energy efficiency/renewable energy projects across a range of buildings/clients.

Role Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
Project Development:
- Lead the development of projects from sales to contract award (construction start) stage.
- Primarily develop EV projects but may also include the development of other renewable or energy efficiency projects.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful project development.
- Coordinate different workstreams and resources such as design, planning, procurement, commercial, engineering, and delivery during development phase of the project.
- Improve the success rates and timelines for projects reaching the start of construction.
- Coordinate planning, grid applications and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) as required.
- Control the project programme and the project risk management process.
- Negotiate contracts and sub contracts, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) agreements, land leases and other contracts.
- Stay informed about market trends, policy changes, and emerging technologies to identify new opportunities for growth.
- Lead the preparation and submission of proposals, presentations, and reports for clients and senior management.
- Produce and manage high quality project programmes.
- Contribute to the execution of strategic plans to ensure projects align with business objectives.
- Cultivate strong and productive relationships with Bristol City Council, clients and other stakeholders to facilitate the successful delivery of objectives.
- Management of external consultants.
- Work collaboratively with Bristol City Council colleagues to identify opportunities for decarbonisation projects on the Council’s estate.
- Proactively respond to incoming enquiries from potential clients.

Skills/Experience:
We are looking for candidates with:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a Project Development role in an energy services, renewable or clean tech business.
- Experience in developing EV projects is preferable but not essential, experience in developing renewables or other energy projects will be considered.
- Knowledge and experience of renewable and low carbon technologies such as energy solar PV,
- Knowledge and experience of renewable and low carbon technologies such as energy solar PV, efficiency measures, heat pumps, etc.
- Recognised formal project management qualification (PMP/APMP or equivalent) is desirable
- Commercial awareness, good negotiation skills and experience of using commercial models and cost plans.
- Focus on clear goals and actions.
- Manage a range of projects types and complex business cases to deliver high quality outcomes under pressure.
- Drive the development of a range of complex energy projects.
- Ability to communicate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including technical experts and decision-makers.
- Advanced IT skills in relation to Word, PowerPoint and Excel and MS Project or other project tools.
