Legal Counsel (Regulatory & Commercial) – Manchester or Leeds

£65,000–£80,000

We’re supporting a growing law firm as they continue to scale their team and service offering. As part of this expansion, we’re hiring a Legal Counsel (Regulatory & Commercial) to join their Manchester office and support clients operating in fast-moving, regulated sectors.

This is a dual-focused role that combines regulatory clarity with pragmatic commercial advice — perfect for someone who thrives on variety and wants to work closely with ambitious, scaling businesses.

What you'll be doing:

• Advising clients on regulatory frameworks, compliance obligations, and operational risk


• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts (supplier, SaaS, customer, licensing etc.)


• Supporting data protection and privacy matters, including GDPR, DPA, and client onboarding processes


• Working closely with founders, COOs, and GCs to deliver tailored legal solutions that are commercially viable


• Staying ahead of sector-specific regulation (e.g., fintech, healthtech, digital services) and translating this into practical advice

What we’re looking for:

• 4+ years PQE, ideally in a law firm or in-house legal team


• Strong knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks and commercial law


• Experience advising on data protection and compliance programmes


• Confident communicator who can work directly with clients and manage stakeholder expectations


• A proactive, solutions-led mindset and appetite to work in a collaborative, ambitious team
