HGV Mechanic - #2173836

TD Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Mechanic to join an established waste management and highways maintenance operation in Bristol.

The company operates a large fleet of HGVs and commercial vehicles, and we're looking for a skilled mechanic who can help keep the fleet safe, reliable and on the road.

The Role

As an HGV Mechanic, you will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance and repair of HGVs, trailers and other vehicles.

Your duties will include:

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs, trailers and fleet vehicles.
• Carrying out routine inspections and MOT preparation.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Carrying out driver defect repairs and reactive maintenance.
• Attending breakdowns and working towards first-time fixes.
• Ensuring repairs are completed safely and in line with manufacturer guidelines.
• Recording completed work accurately on the fleet management system.
• Reporting vehicle defects and maintenance requirements.
• Working closely with drivers, workshop colleagues and the wider operations team.

About You

We are looking for an experienced HGV Mechanic who is confident working in a busy fleet environment.

You will need:

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent experience.
• Previous HGV mechanical experience.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience carrying out servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team.
• Good communication skills and a strong approach to health and safety.
• A Class 1 HGV licence is desirable, but not essential.
