Print Finishing Operative

Die-Cutting / Machine Operator

Location: Bristol

Hours: Full-time. We are open to considering either daytime working or a double-day shift pattern, depending on the successful applicant and production requirements.

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

Philtone Litho Limited is looking for a Print Finishing Operative to join our finishing department in Bristol.

We would particularly like to hear from applicants with experience operating flat-bed die-cutting equipment. However, we are keeping the role open to applicants with wider print-finishing, machine-setting or production-machine experience.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be cross-trained across different areas of our finishing department.

Key responsibilities

  • Setting and operating print-finishing machinery.
  • Operating flat-bed die-cutting and creasing equipment, following training where required.
  • Checking finished work against job specifications and quality requirements.
  • Completing production and quality records accurately.
  • Identifying and reporting production or quality issues.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping around machinery and working areas.
  • Working safely and following machine-specific procedures.
  • Supporting other finishing operations as required.
  • Developing additional skills through cross-training across the department.

About you

We would be interested in hearing from applicants with:

  • Print-finishing experience, or relevant experience setting and operating production machinery.
  • A practical and mechanically minded approach.
  • A good understanding of quality and the ability to spot defects.
  • The ability to work safely and use initiative.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to changing production requirements.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A willingness to learn and be cross-trained across different finishing processes.

Flat-bed die-cutting experience would be useful, but it is not essential. Training can be provided to someone with the right practical skills, attitude and machine-operating experience.

What we offer

  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Contributory pension scheme.
  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Training and cross-training across finishing processes.
  • A supportive and experienced finishing team.
  • A long-term opportunity within an established commercial print company.

To apply, please send your CV together with a brief summary of your practical, machine-operating or print-finishing experience.
