As one of the first points of contact for court users, members of the public, judicial office holders and partner organisations, you will provide a professional, helpful and impartial service. You may support individuals who are vulnerable or have additional needs, so empathy, resilience and excellent communication skills are important.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties may include:
- Providing high-quality administrative and customer service support
- Preparing for and supporting the smooth running of court hearings
- Responding to enquiries face-to-face, over the telephone and through written and digital channels
- Processing casework and accurately updating records and databases
- Handling case files and sensitive information securely
- Supporting court users and signposting them to appropriate services and information
- Assisting with listing, scheduling and diary coordination
- Supporting jury administration where required
- Booking interpreters, intermediaries and other professionals for hearings
- Liaising with judiciary, colleagues, external agencies and other justice partners
- Dealing professionally with complaints and escalating issues where appropriate
- Reporting facilities, health and safety or IT issues
- Completing general administrative duties and other tasks according to business requirements
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous administration and/or customer service experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office and databases
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate data-entry skills
- The ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload
- A professional and impartial approach when dealing with sensitive information
- Confidence communicating with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
- The resilience to remain calm and professional in challenging or potentially distressing situations
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to follow established procedures
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Previous knowledge or experience of HMCTS, courts or justice-sector procedures would be advantageous but is not essential.
Why Apply?
