We are looking for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to support a large-scale social housing retrofit programme across the Bristol/Bath area.

This is an immediate requirement, initially expected to run for approximately 2–3 months, with the possibility of further work or potentially moving into a permanent position for the right person.

The project forms part of a substantial multi-measure retrofit programme operating across occupied residential properties, with several delivery teams working across the wider scheme.

The Role

This is a site-based management position focused on keeping works moving safely, efficiently and professionally.

Responsibilities will include:

• Day-to-day site management
• Managing and coordinating subcontractors
• Site inductions and onboarding
• Health & safety management
• Monitoring works against programme
• Quality control and general site coordination
• Liaising professionally with residents
• Supporting smooth delivery across occupied properties
• Dealing with straightforward practical issues on site where required

You will be supported by an experienced senior delivery team and office-based Project Coordinators. The client is looking for a dependable Site Manager who can come into an established project, understand what is required and keep things moving. Pasted text

Essential Requirements

• Valid SMSTS
• Proven experience working as a Site Manager
• Strong health & safety knowledge
• Experience managing subcontractors
• Comfortable working within occupied residential properties
• Professional and approachable when dealing with residents
• Full UK driving licence
• Own vehicle
• Available to start at short notice

Desirable

• Previous social housing or retrofit experience
• Multi-measure refurbishment / retrofit experience
• Solar PV, insulation or fabric improvement experience
• Cat B Asbestos Awareness
• Scaffold Awareness
• Previous hands-on or trade background
• Experience working across multiple occupied properties

SMSTS is the key non-negotiable qualification for the temporary requirement. Cat B asbestos and Scaffold Awareness would be advantageous but are not essential. Pasted text

The Person

Personality is particularly important for this project.

Because the work takes place within occupied homes, we're looking for somebody who is calm, approachable and professional when dealing with residents.

The successful person needs to be comfortable working around families, children and potentially vulnerable residents while still maintaining standards with subcontractors and keeping the programme moving.

This would suit somebody who is practical, reliable and happy to get involved rather than simply manage from a distance. The client specifically needs a dependable pair of hands who can come in at short notice and provide stability to the project. Pasted text Pasted text
