Graduate Trainee Quantity Surveyor

Location: Bristol and surrounding area
Salary: £28,000–£30,000, depending on experience
Position: Permanent, full-time

An established construction company is looking to recruit a Graduate Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in the Bristol area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveying graduate seeking to begin their career within a supportive business offering practical training, ongoing development and exposure to live construction projects.

The role

Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and project teams, you will assist with the commercial management of projects from initial tender through to completion.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with cost planning, budgeting and project forecasting.
• Preparing tender enquiries and obtaining subcontractor quotations.
• Supporting subcontractor procurement and package comparisons.
• Measuring works and preparing bills of quantities.
• Assisting with valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
• Monitoring project costs and reporting on commercial performance.
• Recording and managing variations to the original scope of work.
• Attending project and site meetings when required.
• Liaising with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation.

Candidate requirements

• A BSc degree in Quantity Surveying or a closely related commercial construction discipline is essential.
• Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Competent with Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
• A genuine interest in construction and commercial project management.
• Willingness to learn and develop under the guidance of experienced surveyors.
• A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
