A growing and ambitious accountancy practice with a strong reputation for providing high-quality advice and support to businesses and individuals across the South of England is currently recruiting. As part of a wider group of 12 practices and approximately 150 employees, the firm combines the opportunities and resources of a larger organisation with the friendly and supportive culture of a local practice.
Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Client Portfolio Manager to join the Bristol office. This role is hybrid, and part-time hours will be considered for the right person. There is plenty of flexibility on offer and a fantastic benefits package including and flexi-times 10am-3pm core hours, 25 days holiday + additional Christmas closure and bank holidays, opportunity to work condensed hours 5 days in 4 or 9 a fortnight, competitive salary, relaxed and friendly office, bonus and a competitive salary.
As a Senior Client Portfolio Manager, you will lead your own portfolio of SME accounts and tax clients and act as a cultural ambassador across the company. You’ll be hands-on in managing client relationships, overseeing the delivery of high-quality accounts and tax compliance work, providing proactive advice to individuals and owner-managed businesses, supporting and developing others, and contributing to the development of our wider accounts and tax services.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage a mixed portfolio of SME and personal tax clients, covering accounts, personal and corporation tax, and taking ownership of client relationships, deadlines, service delivery and commercial performance.
· Preparation and review of annual accounts for SMEs and owner-managed businesses, ensuring work is accurate, technically sound and delivered on time.
· Review and sign off accounts and tax work prepared by other members of the team, providing technical support and guidance where required.
· Review and deliver personal tax compliance work, including annual self-assessment tax returns, and provide proactive tax planning and advice to individuals, business owners and families.
· Oversee corporation tax compliance for SME clients, working with specialist colleagues where more complex advice is required.
· Develop a strong understanding of clients' businesses and personal circumstances, identifying opportunities to provide proactive commercial, accounts and tax advice.
· Meet prospective clients, understand their requirements and support the conversion of suitable opportunities into new business.
· Collaborate across the group to optimise workflows and resources, particularly across accounts and tax teams, and ensure clients receive a joined-up service.
Required skills
· Professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, equivalent, or QBE).
· Strong experience working within a UK accountancy practice, with experience managing SME clients.
· Strong technical knowledge and practical experience of SME accounts, including the preparation, review and sign-off of annual accounts.
· Good personal tax knowledge and practical experience, including self-assessment compliance and experience providing tax planning and advice to clients.
· Good working knowledge of corporation tax compliance for SME clients.
· Experience managing a portfolio of clients and taking ownership of the quality and timeliness of client work.
