We are working with a leading local authority who are looking for an experienced HR Consultant to join their Workforce and Change - HR team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional to provide specialist advice and guidance across a broad range of complex employee relations matters, working closely with managers, employees and senior stakeholders.
Duties:
- Provide expert HR advice and guidance on complex employee relations matters.
- Manage a varied caseload including absence, disciplinary, grievance and performance management.
- Support restructures, TUPE transfers, internal appeals, ACAS Early Conciliation and Employment Tribunal cases.
- Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into grievances and misconduct.
- Coach and support managers through formal HR processes.
- Interpret HR policies and provide pragmatic recommendations and solutions.
- Advise on changes to employment law and best practice.
- Work closely with trade unions, employee representatives and senior leaders.
- Analyse HR data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Contribute to the development and review of HR policies and procedures.
- Challenge practices where appropriate and promote positive change.
- Work collaboratively across the wider HR function to ensure consistency and shared learning.
Requirements:
- Chartered CIPD membership, or equivalent demonstrable HR experience, knowledge and skills with a commitment to achieving Chartered Membership.
- Proven experience independently managing and advising on complex employee relations cases.
- Strong knowledge and experience across disciplinary, grievance, TUPE, restructures, investigations and dispute resolution.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and multiple priorities effectively.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Resilient and able to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- High levels of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion within HR practice.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other business applications.
