We're looking for an experienced Programme Manager to lead the delivery of a major defence training contract. You'll take ownership of programme delivery, ensuring it is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards, while acting as the main point of contact for the customer.
You'll also support the transition of a new airborne training programme from mobilisation into full operational delivery, establishing and leading the Training Integrated Project Team (IPT).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a cross-functional team delivering military training programmes.
- Manage programme performance against schedule, budget, quality and contractual KPIs.
- Act as the primary interface with the customer and key internal stakeholders.
- Drive programme governance, reporting and continuous improvement.
- Lead the transition of new training capability into service.
- Manage suppliers, subcontractors and recruitment of specialist training personnel.
- Oversee delivery of training assets, maintenance support and associated services.
- Support future training growth, capability upgrades and international expansion opportunities.
- Coach and develop Project Managers and the wider delivery team.
- Ensure contractual deliverables and programme milestones are achieved.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Programme or Project Management qualification (APMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP or equivalent).
- Experience leading large, cross-functional programmes within a complex environment.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and customer-facing experience.
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time, to budget and to quality standards.
Desirable
- 10+ years' programme management experience within defence or aerospace.
- Experience managing UK MOD or defence service contracts.
- Knowledge of mobilisation, transition and sustainment programmes.
- Strong commercial, financial and supplier management skills.
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
- A proactive, collaborative leader with excellent problem-solving skills.
