Neon Talent Solutions are proud to be supporting our client in the recruitment of a Compliance Manager to join their growing Bristol-based team on a full-time, permanent basis, with hybrid working options available.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Compliance professional from Insurance or Financial Services who combines strong FCA/PRA regulatory knowledge with a pragmatic, commercially focused approach and enjoys operating within a fast-paced, growing business. The role offers genuine scope to influence the compliance function and, over time, develop into responsibility for the SMF16 and SMF17 functions.

About the Role of Compliance Manager

As Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in leading and evolving the compliance framework for a growing international insurance business. Working closely with senior leadership, you will provide pragmatic regulatory guidance, support strong governance practices, and help ensure the business continues to operate in line with FCA and PRA expectations whilst supporting strategic growth initiatives.

This is a highly visible, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys operating in a fast-paced environment and influencing positive business outcomes through practical compliance leadership. The successful individual will also have the opportunity to assume responsibility for the SMF16 and SMF17 functions over time, with support provided where appropriate.

  • Lead and oversee the company's compliance framework across the UK business
  • Provide trusted regulatory guidance to senior stakeholders, including Board and Executive teams
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory developments, ensuring effective implementation across the business
  • Maintain and enhance compliance policies, controls and governance processes
  • Support regulatory reporting, notifications and ongoing regulator engagement
  • Promote and embed a strong compliance culture across the organisation
  • Work closely with Risk, Legal and Audit teams to support robust governance and oversight
  • Develop towards responsibility for the SMF16 and SMF17 functions as part of the longer-term evolution of the role

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday


What You Will Bring

You will be an experienced compliance professional with a strong understanding of UK financial services regulation and the ability to apply regulatory requirements in a practical, commercially focused way. Comfortable operating in a fast-paced and evolving environment, you will be confident working independently whilst building effective relationships across all levels of the business.

  • Recent General Insurance Compliance experience is essential
  • Minimum five years' Compliance experience within Insurance or a regulated Financial Services environment
  • Strong working knowledge of FCA and PRA regulatory frameworks and expectations, with demonstrable practical application
  • Proven understanding of FCA regulatory requirements and how they are applied within a business environment
  • Previous responsibility for, exposure to, or experience deputising for SMF16 and/or SMF17 functions would be highly advantageous
  • Ability to implement pragmatic and proportionate solutions to meet regulatory obligations
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage effectively across all levels of the organisation
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to operate independently and manage priorities proactively
  • Strong analytical capability, attention to detail and sound professional judgement
