About Company:
Willis Hazell Engineers is a specialist structural engineering consultancy across the sports, entertainment and leisure sector.
The company was set up in 2023 by Martin Willis and Rob Hazell, with a combined experience of 50 years working on projects such as Anfield Stadium expansion, New Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Swansea Arena.
We are currently working on projects such as Ashton Gate Sporting Quarter, Surf London, expansion to AFC Bournemouth, and multiple David Lloyd sites.
Role:
We are looking for motivated structural engineers or senior structural engineers to join our team.
The role would include:
- Working alongside our team of structural, civil and geotechnical engineers, in both teams and independently depending upon the project scale.
- Carrying out structural surveys of building/desk studies and providing initial advice on any issues that may arise. These include annual stadium safety inspections.
- Preparing conceptual and outline designs for structural schemes with support of the wider team.
- Preparing detailed design calculations to Eurocode and relevant design guidance notes using relevant 3D software packages.
- Preparing detailed design drawings and specifications for tender purposes.
- Responding to client requests for information.
- Supporting the production of construction information for issue to contractors.
- Visiting sites during the construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to contractors.

Experience:
- MEng/BEng recognised by the Engineering Council with 3+ years working in a structural engineering role.
- Progressing as a Member or Graduate Member of either the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, including technical report writing skills.
- Demonstrable and sound experience in the design of structures in concrete, steel, masonry and timber.
- Experience with FEA Structural analysis products (ideally TEKLA Structural Designer or Robot Structural Analysis).
- Experience designing structures to the Eurocode and UK specific design guidance.
- Experience working with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and within a 3D environment generally.
- Experience using AutoCAD and Revit beneficial, but not essential.
- Demonstrable experience working in projects of a varying size and complexity and familiarity with key forms of building construction.
- Demonstrable UK experience working in a client facing role, through attending site meetings and inspections.
