THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Manager to lead all aspects of health, safety, and compliance during the build and install phases of our London site. The role will be crucial in ensuring that best practices in health and safety are embedded across all operations, providing expert guidance and maintaining a safe, compliant, and well-managed working environment for our teams, contractors, and visitors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Health, Safety & Compliance:
- Lead on all health and safety matters for the London site during build and installation phases.
- Develop, review, and maintain site-specific RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
- Be lead CDM coordinator for Wake The Tiger with responsibility for ensuring all compliance is met.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring full compliance with current legislation and industry best practices.
- Manage and maintain site health and safety documentation, ensuring accessibility and accuracy.
- Coordinate and deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety briefings to all personnel and contractors.
- Act as the key point of contact for all incidents, ensuring thorough investigations, reporting, and corrective actions.
- Develop emergency response plans and ensure all staff and contractors are aware of procedures.
Site Coordination & Contractor Management:
- Support the Head of Production and Technical Director in maintaining a safe, compliant work environment.
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure they meet health and safety standards.
- Monitor contractor compliance on-site and escalate non-compliance where necessary.
- Oversee sign-in/sign-out procedures and ensure access controls align with safety protocols.
Training & Awareness:
- Identify training needs and coordinate the delivery of required health and safety certifications (e.g., first aid, fire warden).
- Foster a positive health and safety culture, ensuring that teams are informed, engaged, and committed to best practices.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain comprehensive health and safety records including accident/incident logs, inspection reports, and statutory compliance documentation.
- Provide regular reports and updates to the Lead Producer and wider project team on health and safety performance.
- Advise on updates to legislation and how changes impact site operations.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years experience in a Health & Safety role within construction, events, or creative installation environments.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) required.
- Detailed knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation including CDM Regulations.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and enforce standards across diverse teams.
- Experience writing, managing, and enforcing RAMS and other compliance documentation.
- Proven ability to remain calm and solutions-focused under pressure.
- First Aid and Fire Safety qualifications (or willingness to obtain prior to start).
- Excellent organisational skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work full-time on site in West London.
Desirable:
- Experience in creative builds, immersive installations, or themed attractions.
- Experience with CDM Principal Designer or Principal Contractor duties.
- Familiarity with sustainability practices in site safety and environmental compliance.
