Job Overview
The post holder will be responsible for managing weekly clinics for Lung Oncology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Lung Cancer Nursing clinics as well as managing e-mail and telephone correspondence for the service, and supporting with other administrative tasks from the broader department as required
There is a requirement to use local electronic patient systems for bookings, such as ERS and Careflow, for which training will be provided. Procedures will need to be followed in relation to booking appointments, managing patient correspondence and monitoring multiple waiting lists.
You will be required to actively support with improving cancer performance in the service, by maintaining optimal clinic utilisation, working closely with consultants to facilitate extra clinical activity where needed, and working with the support manager on improvement initiatives to increase the provision of Lung Cancer care in the BNSSG area.
Another key aspect of this role will be supporting with EBUS/Bronchscopy diagnostic bookings, and tracking live cancer pathways to assist with cancer reporting and service delivery

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

Main duties of the job
- To respond promptly and professionally to internal and external telephone and e-mail enquiries, ensuring accurate information is recorded and disseminated to all parties.
- To support with data quality work as required by the Support Manager
- To manage three patient waiting lists, and three weekly clinics, ensuring maximal clinic utilisation, and minimal patient delays
- To regularly notify management and clinicians of capacity/demand issues and work with them to organise additional activity
- To engage with departmental initiatives and embody the NBT Cares culture.
- To liaise with patients, relatives, General Practitioners, clinical and administrative staff over the telephone, face to face and in written correspondence.
- To ensure that all clinics are outcomed (cashed-up) at the end of the working day.
- To meet and have regular contact with the Secretarial Team/Support Services Manager and Specialty Manager.
- To support with booking EBUS/Bronchoscopy procedures
- To support with patient communication by answering e-mails and phone calls from the general lines.
- To attend MDT and learn about the service and the patient pathway
- To maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, raising concerns where appropriate.

- To contribute to own personal development and attend mandatory and other training relevant to the role.
- To carry out other reasonable duties, appropriate to the grade, as agreed between the post holder and Support Services Manager/Specialty Manager.
