Summary

National Composites Centre is expanding and growing, moving into new fields of work such as Defence & Digital, while also continuing to develop in areas like Aerospace. Were building new facilities and performing increasingly complex work, of which Health & Safety are at the heart of our work to ensure our employees are safe.

Youll join the Health, Safety & Environment team focusing on Health & Safety activities.

Your main role will be to act as a trusted expert and partner with stakeholders to provide expertise and advice and deliver systems and solutions that ensure that the NCC is world leading in our Health, Safety and Environmental practices and complies with all legislative requirements and standards (e.g. ISO45001).

Examples Of Specific Responsibilities Include

  • Health & Safety Management:Enhance and maintain the Health and Safety management system, identifying and addressing gaps while continuously improving in alignment with the Estates strategy.
  • Regulatory Compliance:Ensure NCC's compliance with current legislation and keep stakeholders informed of upcoming changes. Manage transitions to new ISO standards effectively.
  • Risk Assessment:Oversee the risk assessment process while mentoring stakeholders
  • Incident Management:Lead and participate in incident investigations as required.
  • Expert Consultation & Culture:Working with internal stakeholder to provide an enabling and proactive Health & Safety service. Provide specialized expertise, systems, solutions, and advice to stakeholders across the NCC, including management and zone owner communities. Support and maintain the induction process for new starters.
  • Specialized Support:Assist specialized disciplines and appointed persons (e.g., Environmental, Radiation Protection Supervisors, Laser Safety Officers) in fulfilling their duties.

Youll also support a range of other activities such as; managing strategic partnerships, performance related reporting, supporting on projects as needed, developing competency through inspections & audits, liaising with external suppliers, networking and benchmarking activities and compliance assurance.

Specific experience we will look for in your CV would include;

  • Experience supporting Health & Safety within in a similar manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Career experience in Health & Safety role working at mid to senior grade
  • Experience with working with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002.
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current legislation and awareness of potential changes.
