Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum dependent on experience
About the Role
HL's website is a core part of our digital platform and provides both prospective and current clients with information on our service, the stock market, news, and education. Over the past year we have been migrating to a new cutting-edge headless CMS (Contentful) and are now looking to accelerate this, as well as take it to the next level, building services which allow us to create client experiences with deep personalisation, working seamlessly across devices and channels.
Hargreaves Lansdown is looking for a talented and enthusiastic senior full-stack (React/Typescript/Next.js/Node.js) engineer, that is passionate about delivering market-leading digital experiences for our clients, to join our team in our mission to transform the investing experience by using advanced personalisation across our client journeys.

Role Responsibilities- Build and run full-stack web applications with TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js, React.
- Develop and maintain design component library, implementing from Figma designs.
- Strategically plan, establish and maintain automated tests for the changes being implemented.
- Write high quality, secure, tested and performant code.
- Work collaboratively with others in a cross functional team to deliver high quality digital client journeys.
- Strategically improve our release and deployment strategies (CI/CD, gitops, policy).
- Key contributor in work pre-planning - coming up with architectural options including trade-offs.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and further technologies & techniques embraced by the development team.
- Cultivate strong working relationships both within working squad and in HL as a whole.
- Actively participating in working groups and communities of practice designed to support the development team.
- Continually develop both technical and interpersonal skills.
- Pro-actively providing engineering support for existing applications.
- Pro-actively providing coaching & mentoring to peers.
- Experience of developing client and server-side web applications using a range of technologies inc. AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Lambdas, TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js, React.
- Experience working with Contentful CMS to develop content models and interfacing with the content/asset delivery APIS.
- Experience of developing and maintaining infrastructure as code.
- Experience with unit, integration, and end to end testing tools and practices (Jest, Playwright).
- Understanding of Microservices & principles of RESTful API development, including structuring, documenting, versioning, testing and stubbing/mocking.
- Experience performing code reviews and following up with learning opportunities.
- Experience operating within an Agile framework.
- Experience of working in a DevOps culture.
- Excellent knowledge of HTML/CSS (Tailwind/SCSS), JavaScript and Typescript.
- Senior level working knowledge of JavaScript libraries and frameworks, in particular, React, Next.js, Node.js.
- Fluent using Git (GitLab) and building CI / CD pipelines.
- Aware of website performance implications, best practices and other non-functional requirements.
- A working understanding of web accessibility and how to ensure interfaces are accessible
- Ability to write and share runbooks, ADRs, documenting processes.
- Knowledge of excellent development practices to optimise for rapid and continuous delivery of client value.
- Experience working with and implementing MarTech solutions such as Analytics, A/B Testing, Personalisation and Tag Management.
- Experience using Netlify PaaS platform to deploy Next.js applications.
- Excellent collaborator, naturally works well with others across different disciplines in a cross functional team.
- Consistently highly productive delivering complex high-quality features/projects.
- A clear communicator (written and verbal)
- Logical, analytical and methodological approach to problem solving. Proactive in assessing/resolving production issues, and explains them to others.
- Proactively shares knowledge with others at all levels via pairing, talks, coaching etc. Highlights and closes skills gaps in their team with an attitude of continuous learning and development.
- Considers architecture best practices around non functional requirements such as security, scalability and observability.
