Mechanical Design Lead Join a specialist team at the forefront of advanced defence technology development, focusing on Radio Frequency (RF) Directed Energy Weapons, Lasers, and Stealth. This role acts as a vital bridge between technical experts, designers, and business stakeholders. With the demand for pioneering RF/LO solutions increasing, this is an ideal time to get involved in shaping the UK's future defence capabilities. Key Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary teams delivering technical work packages in RF Directed Energy, including electronic and electrical architecture assessments.
- Analyse and decompose high-level requirements into lower-level subsystem requirements, ensuring alignment with customer needs.
- Provide both technical and managerial leadership, taking responsibility for allocated budgets and team direction.
- Identify key technical risk areas and oversee associated studies covering electromagnetic modelling, mechanical design, and component evaluation.
- Develop and implement testing and evaluation strategies for new concepts and technologies.
- Collaborate with subsystem design authorities to define and integrate architectural requirements and design approaches.
- Engage with a broad range of stakeholders to gather and define requirements for future system capabilities and programmes.
- Degree-qualified with significant industry experience.
- Background in electro-mechanical and mechanical design.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build influential relationships.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and synthesise complex information into clear viewpoints.
- Familiarity with Weapon or Missile Systems and awareness of emerging or novel weapons technology.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and nurture collaborative teams.
- Strong commitment to achieving delivery milestones in terms of time, cost, and quality.
- Willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.
