WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR



Position Purpose


The Spares Team Leader will play a key role within the RMMV UK Spares Supply Chain function. As the team leader, you will be responsible for leading all spares activities, mentoring team members, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality goods and services at optimal cost and efficiency. This position also includes overseeing administrators, mentoring apprentices, and deputising for the Spares Manager as needed. This role provides an opportunity to shape and lead procurement strategies within a defence contractor environment, while fostering professional development among team members and driving continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:


Team Management and Mentorship:



  • Supervise and support a team of administrators, ensuring task completion and professional growth.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices, supporting their development in procurement and supply chain practices.

  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to review performance, provide feedback, and address development needs.

  • Set teams objectives aligned to business strategy deploymenet and objectives

  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and best practices.


Operational and Analytical Support:



  • Assist the Spares Manager with data analysis, reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

  • Oversee day-to-day procurement operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of technical data and purchasing requirements.

  • Monitor and report on purchasing performance metrics.

  • Manage and optimise the use of SAP for procurement processes


Continuous Improvement:



  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement within the Spares team & RMMV-UK

  • Identify opportunities for procedural improvements and implement CI projects within the supply chain function.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to share best practices and drive operational efficiency.


Strategic Collaboration:



  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams, including commercial and engineering functions, as well as external stakeholders such as suppliers and the UK MoD.

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the RMMV UK supply chain function, preparing for potential future leadership roles.

  • Develop strategic supplier management skills and foster collaboration across departments.

  • Contribute to the improvement of processes and team performance through proactive engagement and problem-solving.

  • IT Proficiency: Advanced skills in SAP, MS Excel, and Word, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.


  • Organisation and Planning: Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.


  • Client Orientation: Dedication to understanding and meeting organisational and client needs. Working within multiple projects.





WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE



Experience & Educational Requirements:


Essential:



  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management within a similar environment.

  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Proven ability to lead and mentor teams.


Desirable:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

  • CIPS accreditation.

  • Experience with continuous improvement projects.

  • Experience within UK Military Supply Chain, particularly within service support contracts

  • Understanding of demand based purchasing

  • Understanding of inventory optimisation for on time delivery


Other:



  • Valid UK driving licence (preferred, as occasional travel may be required).
