Permitting Consultant
Bristol
£35,000 - £42,000

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a growing consultancy that works with a broad mix of public and private sector clients across the waste, energy, utilities, construction and leisure sectors.

As a Permitting Consultant, you will help clients understand their environmental obligations and put together clear, robust permit applications and supporting documentation. You will give technical advice on navigating the complexities of environmental regulation, helping clients secure successful environmental permits and planning approvals.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A BSc in Geography, Environmental Science or an equivalent discipline
  • 1-2 years’ experience in compliance and permitting
  • Hands-on experience contributing to permit applications or compliance assessments
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Support the preparation of environmental permit applications and supporting technical documentation.
  • Apply your regulatory compliance and permitting knowledge to help produce high-quality technical reports, such as environmental risk assessments, fire prevention plans, flood risk activity permits and abstraction licences.
  • Continue to grow your technical expertise in regulatory compliance and permitting.
  • Gather, interpret and analyse information, including numerical data, from outside your core discipline (for example, engineering information from oil and gas projects).
  • Manage your time and workload effectively to deliver reports across a variety of projects.
  • Help prepare fee proposals for review by the Principal or Director and contribute regularly to fees and tenders.
  • Build and maintain regular client and business relationships.
  • Show a clear understanding of Health & Safety issues (including risk assessments and COSHH) and how they shape your day-to-day work.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Understand the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR.
