Our client, a leading international law firm with a highly regarded insurance practice, is looking for a Claims Manager to join its growing Claims Handling team in Bristol. The team handles pre-litigated professional claims on behalf of leading insurers, operating under delegated authority from first notification through to resolution. The role is based in Bristol, with occasional travel to London.

Your new role

As Claims Manager, you will play a key role within a growing claims handling team, leading a team of Claims Handlers at varying levels and overseeing performance, development, resourcing and capacity. You will play a key role in developing a high-performing team, providing supervision, mentoring, technical training and coaching. You will also manage relationships with insurer clients, oversee compliance with SLAs and KPIs, ensure the effective operation of delegated authority arrangements and maintain the quality and accuracy of management information and insurer reporting. Alongside this, you will monitor quality standards, carry out regular audits, identify and escalate trends and risks, and chair meetings with key stakeholders. You will contribute to the ongoing development of the team, helping to improve processes and deliver consistently high levels of client service.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have strong claims experience and technical expertise, with an up-to-date understanding of the relevant laws, policies, procedures and practices. You will have previous line management or team leadership experience, with the ability to manage performance and resourcing while coaching and developing others. You will also be comfortable building strong insurer and internal relationships, with a commercial, proactive and client-focused approach. The ability to identify improvements to processes, procedures and ways of working will also be important.
