Summary

An opportunity for an experienced Senior BIM MEP Technician to join an established building services team in Bristol, producing and coordinating Revit models and technical drawings for a range of local and international projects. The role will involve working closely with engineers, technicians and BIM managers to deliver coordinated MEP designs from RIBA Stages 2-4, with opportunities to contribute to digital engineering and BIM automation.

The Company

The company is an established, international multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering innovative, sustainable and efficient building design solutions. Its building services team works across a diverse portfolio of local and international projects, combining technical expertise with a collaborative approach to engineering and design.

Sustainability is central to the business, with a commitment to achieving Zero Carbon Design across all projects by 2030. The team also invests in digital engineering and automation to improve design coordination, project delivery and overall efficiency.

The Role

As a Senior BIM MEP Technician, you will be responsible for producing and coordinating building services models and drawings across RIBA Stages 2-4. Working alongside engineers, technicians and BIM managers, you will help ensure designs are accurate, coordinated and compliant with project requirements.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Producing and coordinating Revit models and MEP drawings in line with project requirements, company standards and templates.
  • Managing models from initial setup and view creation through to sheet production and final issue.
  • Incorporating asset information and data, including COBie, IFC and Uniclass, in accordance with project BIM Execution Plans and Exchange Information Requirements.
  • Reviewing engineer-produced models, carrying out clash detection and providing reports to support design coordination.
  • Coordinating mechanical, electrical and public health services within building layouts and identifying potential design conflicts.
  • Producing models and drawings independently from engineering mark-ups, sketches and Bluebeam PDFs.
  • Working with the wider engineering team to maintain model quality, accuracy and consistency throughout the design process.
  • Contributing ideas to improve Revit workflows, BIM processes and digital engineering automation.
  • Planning and prioritising workloads alongside the BIM Manager to meet project deadlines.
The Requirements
  • Proven experience in a Building Services BIM or Revit Technician role, ideally within an engineering consultancy or specialist MEP contractor.
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Revit and the production of coordinated MEP models and technical drawings.
  • Experience across mechanical, electrical and public health building services disciplines.
  • Ability to work independently from mark-ups, sketches and design information to produce accurate models and drawings.
  • Understanding of BIM coordination processes and the ability to identify and resolve clashes within building services designs.
  • Experience using Autodesk Construction Cloud and Navisworks for model management and clash detection would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work, BSRIA BG6 and the appropriate level of model detail at different design stages would be beneficial.
  • An understanding of ISO 19650 and BIM information management principles would be advantageous.
  • HNC-level qualifications or higher in a relevant subject are preferred.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver work to tight deadlines.

Training can be provided where required in areas such as clash detection, digital engineering tools, BIM processes and project information requirements.

The Benefits
  • Opportunity to join an established building services team in Bristol.
  • Exposure to a varied portfolio of local and international building projects.
  • Collaborative working environment alongside experienced engineers, technicians and BIM managers.
  • Opportunities to develop technical expertise across BIM, Revit and digital engineering.
  • The chance to contribute to innovative automation initiatives and more efficient design processes.
  • Work within a business committed to sustainable design and achieving Zero Carbon Design across its projects by 2030.
