Location: Hybrid / Flexible
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

The Opportunity

Mploy Group is recruiting for an innovative technology business developing advanced industrial solutions that combine hardware, embedded firmware and software.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded Product Owner to join a growing, customer-focused organisation, working closely with engineering and commercial teams to develop, launch and enhance sophisticated technology products.

The role would suit someone with approximately 2–5 years of experience in Product Ownership, Product Management, Applications Engineering, Technical Sales or a related engineering discipline who is looking to develop their career in product management.

You'll have the opportunity to influence product direction, engage directly with customers and take ownership of solutions throughout their lifecycle.

The Role

Working closely with the Product Manager, you'll translate customer needs and market insights into clear product requirements, support engineering teams throughout development and contribute to successful product launches.

The technology combines physical hardware, embedded systems, connectivity and software applications, making this an ideal position for someone who enjoys working across multiple technical disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyse customer feedback, market requirements and commercial opportunities.

  • Research competitors, emerging technologies and industry trends to support product strategy.

  • Develop product requirements, technical specifications, user stories and application use cases.

  • Maintain and prioritise product backlogs, balancing customer requirements, technical feasibility and commercial value.

  • Support product roadmap development and communicate priorities across internal teams.

  • Work closely with hardware, firmware and software engineers to clarify requirements and support delivery.

  • Coordinate product testing, customer trials, pilot programmes and feedback reviews.

  • Support the complete product lifecycle, including new releases, product enhancements and ongoing improvements.

  • Produce product documentation, technical datasheets, release notes and customer-facing materials.

  • Support sales and technical teams with product knowledge, training and commercial positioning.

  • Monitor product performance, customer adoption, quality and commercial KPIs.

  • Identify opportunities to improve product functionality, customer experience and market competitiveness.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Approximately 2–5 years' experience in Product Ownership, Product Management, Applications Engineering, Technical Sales or commercial engineering.

  • Good understanding of products combining hardware and software technologies.

  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear requirements and commercial benefits.

  • Strong communication skills, with confidence engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Experience

  • Exposure to industrial technology, sensing equipment, instrumentation, automation or connected devices.

  • Understanding of embedded systems, firmware, cloud applications or industrial software.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.

  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, including Modbus, OPC UA or MQTT.

  • Experience supporting product development, testing, certification or commercial launches.

  • Previous experience working with industrial or B2B customers.

About You

We're looking for someone who is commercially aware, technically curious and motivated to take ownership of their work.

You'll enjoy understanding how customers use technology, identifying opportunities for improvement and working collaboratively to deliver successful products.

A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and flexibility to travel occasionally to customer sites or industry events will be important.

What's on Offer

  • £50,000 – £60,000 salary, depending on experience, plus benefits package.

  • Opportunity to join a growing and innovative technology business.

  • Exposure to the complete product lifecycle, from initial concept through to commercial launch.

  • Mentoring and career development within product management.
