People and Culture Manager - #2179295
Moxie and Mettle Limited
People & Culture Manager
Bristol/hybrid
£50,000–£60,000 | Hybrid | 4 or 5 days considered
Are you a people-focused HR professional who wants to use your skills in an organisation making a genuine difference to the planet?
We’re delighted to be exclusively working with a B Corp-certified, purpose-led organisation at the forefront of environmental and climate action. Working with organisations and individuals driving positive change, sustainability and social impact are central to its work and values.
They’re looking for a People & Culture Manager who shares that sense of purpose and can help create an environment where people feel supported, engaged and able to do their best work.
This is a broad, hands-on HR role combining operational responsibility with the opportunity to shape culture, engagement and development. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, but this isn’t a formal senior leadership team position. It’s about being approachable, building trust and making a tangible difference to people’s working lives.
The role
- Support the development of the people and culture strategy, aligned with business objectives.
- Provide trusted advice and empathetic pastoral support to employees and managers.
- Oversee recruitment, employee relations, performance management and day-to-day HR operations.
- Develop learning, engagement and career progression initiatives.
- Coach managers and support organisational development and change.
- Champion wellbeing, inclusion and a positive, accountable culture.
- Ensure HR policies, systems and practices remain effective and compliant.
About you
We’re looking for a qualified HR generalist who combines strong professional knowledge and commercial awareness with exceptional empathy and emotional intelligence.
You’ll ideally have:
- A CIPD qualification or equivalent HR qualification, alongside strong generalist HR experience.
- Experience within a commercial, client-service or billable environment, such as a consultancy, agency or professional services business, where time, resources and profitability matter. This could include marketing, PR, communications or creative agencies, but we're equally interested in candidates from other commercially driven environments with a similar operating model.
- Experience across HR operations, employee relations and supporting managers.
- A genuinely kind, approachable and thoughtful manner, with the confidence to advise and challenge when needed.
- The ability to build trust, listen without judgement and understand the personal challenges employees may face.
- Experience working in a close-knit environment where you’re comfortable being hands-on, building relationships and providing practical support, rather than operating within a large, highly structured HR function.
- A genuine interest in climate action, sustainability and environmental issues. You’ll understand why this work matters and be motivated by the opportunity to support people working towards positive environmental and social change.
- Experience of an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) would be beneficial, but isn’t essential.
This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to the day-to-day experience of employees, combines commercial understanding with a deeply people-first approach, and wants to work somewhere where purpose is more than just a statement on the website.
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
