Tradewind Recruitment is looking to speak with experienced Teaching Assistants who have worked in UK secondary schools and are interested in progressing into Cover Supervisor opportunities across Bristol from September 2026.

This is an ideal opportunity for a confident Secondary TA who is ready to take on more responsibility, develop their classroom leadership skills and progress into Cover Supervisor work.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise secondary school classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain focused and learning continues.

You will generally follow pre-prepared lesson plans, communicate instructions clearly and manage classroom behaviour effectively.

This role is particularly suited to Teaching Assistants looking to level up and gain experience leading a classroom independently.

You do not need to be a qualified teacher or subject specialist. Your existing experience working with secondary students, combined with strong behaviour management and communication skills, can provide an excellent foundation for Cover Supervisor work.

• Supervising secondary school classes in the absence of the teacher.
• Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and following instructions.
• Managing classroom behaviour firmly, fairly and consistently.
• Maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
• Supporting students with their learning where appropriate.
• Monitoring student engagement and ensuring work is completed.
• Adapting to different subjects, year groups and school environments.
• Communicating effectively with teaching staff and school leaders.
• Following school safeguarding and behaviour policies.
