Microsoft 365 Applications Specialist

Bristol | Hybrid Working – 2 Days in the Office

We are working with a highly regarded professional services organisation in Bristol to recruit a Microsoft 365 Applications Specialist to support and enhance its core Microsoft 365 environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced applications professional to take ownership of business-critical technologies, including Microsoft Copilot, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and the wider Microsoft Office suite. You will play a key role in maintaining reliable services, resolving complex technical issues and helping colleagues get the most from their technology, including emerging AI capabilities.

The Role

You will provide advanced application support across the Microsoft 365 estate, acting as a point of escalation for complex issues and ensuring applications remain secure, stable and effective.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 2nd and 3rd-line support across Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook and Office.
  • Supporting the rollout, configuration and ongoing development of Microsoft Copilot and other AI-enabled productivity tools.
  • Investigating and resolving complex application, access, integration and performance issues.
  • Managing permissions, licensing, security settings and user access, ensuring appropriate governance and compliance.
  • Supporting application upgrades, releases, patches and service improvements.
  • Working closely with colleagues across IT and the wider business to understand requirements and improve the user experience.
  • Liaising with external suppliers and technology partners to resolve issues and maintain service quality.
  • Producing clear technical documentation and guidance, and helping colleagues make effective use of available tools.
  • Contributing to technology projects, process improvements and the continued development of the application support function.

About You

You will be an experienced applications or Microsoft 365 specialist, comfortable working in a complex business environment and resolving issues that require strong technical investigation and stakeholder management skills.

You will ideally bring:

  • Strong experience supporting and administering Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Copilot, AI-enabled applications or productivity tools, ideally including user adoption, configuration and governance.
  • A solid understanding of permissions, identity, access management and application security.
  • Experience providing advanced application support and managing incidents, problems and changes.
  • The ability to investigate technical issues, identify root causes and implement practical solutions.
  • Confidence working with third-party suppliers and stakeholders at different levels of an organisation.
  • A proactive approach to service improvement, documentation and knowledge sharing.

Experience within a professional services or similarly complex organisation would be advantageous. Previous experience mentoring colleagues or taking a lead on application support activities would also be beneficial.

The Opportunity

This is a chance to join an established organisation where technology plays an important role in how people work and collaborate. You will have the opportunity to influence the ongoing development of its Microsoft 365 environment, support the adoption of AI tools and help deliver a reliable, secure and effective technology service.
