Build a commercial insurance portfolio from the ground up, developing relationships with businesses across Bristol and the South West, identifying opportunities and converting new clients into long-term accounts.

This is a new business-focused Development Executive opportunity with an established insurance broker developing its presence in Bristol. You'll be joining at an early stage of the region's growth, with the opportunity to establish your own client base rather than inherit an existing book. The role offers hybrid working, with three days per week in the Bristol office.

The opportunity

• Focus on winning new commercial insurance clients, building your own pipeline and developing a portfolio from scratch.
• Identify and approach prospective clients, establish relationships with business owners and decision-makers, and understand their insurance requirements.
• Develop opportunities through networking, referrals, prospecting and your existing market relationships.
• Work through the full new business process, from initial conversations and understanding a client's risks through to presenting proposals and securing new accounts.
• Build a sustainable portfolio of commercial insurance clients, creating relationships that can develop over the longer term.
• Play an important part in establishing the broker's presence in Bristol, contributing to its reputation and growth across the regional market.
• Work in a role where new business generation is the main priority, rather than spending most of your time servicing an inherited book.

Who would suit it?

• You'll have a strong commercial insurance background, with experience developing and winning new business within the broking market.
• Someone confident generating your own opportunities rather than relying entirely on leads or an existing portfolio.
• You'll understand how to approach commercial clients, identify their insurance requirements and demonstrate the value of a well-structured insurance programme.
• Someone who has the drive and organisation to build a pipeline from scratch, manage a sales process and turn prospects into long-term clients.
• Enjoy developing relationships, meeting businesses and establishing yourself within the Bristol and South West commercial market.
• You'll be comfortable joining a developing regional operation and taking responsibility for building your own contribution to its growth.

The package

• Basic salary from £60,000, with scope for a higher salary depending on experience.
• Hybrid working, with three days per week in the Bristol office and two days working from home.
