Assistant Financial Accountant

Robert Half is helping a well-respected national charity, based in Bristol, find an Assistant Financial Accountant to join its finance team. This role sits at the heart of a finance function that has just implemented a new finance system, and offers genuine breadth: month end, treasury, VAT and statutory reporting, all in one seat. • Carry out month end accounting processes with limited supervision, including journals, accruals and prepayments
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and own a set of balance sheet reconciliations end to end
• Support daily treasury activity, cash flow forecasting and banking administration
• Support the preparation of quarterly VAT returns and year end statutory accounts
• Help maintain finance system master data and support process improvement across the finance function

As Assistant Financial Accountant, you will work closely with the Financial Accountant and wider finance team, with real scope to get involved in treasury, compliance and systems work alongside core month end.

• AAT qualified, or part-qualified towards ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience
• Experience of preparing balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies
• Experience of preparing journals, including accruals and prepayments
• Confident Excel user, comfortable with other Microsoft Office applications
• Strong attention to detail, with the organisational skills to manage competing deadlines
