SALARY: Circa £29,000 per annum (includes unsociable hours allowance) + Benefits
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
LOCATION: Bristol, South West England (BS16)
WORKING HOURS: 12-hour shifts on a 4 shifts on, 4 shifts off rota: 2 day shifts (08:00–20:00), followed by 2 night shifts (20:00–08:00), including weekends and bank holidays
JOB OVERVIEW
This is an opportunity to support women in an Approved Premises as they transition back into the community. The Residential Support Worker helps create a safe, structured environment where confidence, independence and practical life skills can grow.
Working with colleagues and partner agencies, the Residential Support Worker supports women who may have experienced trauma, complex circumstances and multiple disadvantages. Empathy, consistency and professional boundaries are central to the work.
Varied shifts give the Residential Support Worker a people-focused role with meaningful day-to-day impact. Training is provided for candidates who bring the right values and transferable skills.
DUTIES
Your duties as the Residential Support Worker include:
- Resident Relationships and Independence: Build positive professional relationships and encourage residents to develop confidence and independence
- Daily Living and Wellbeing: Deliver daily living skills, wellbeing, leisure and creative sessions
- Resident Welcome and Induction: Welcome and induct new residents into the service
- Safeguarding and Premises Safety: Promote a safe, supportive and respectful living environment
- Welfare and Building Checks: Carry out regular welfare and building checks
- Records and Confidentiality: Record important information accurately and maintain confidential records
- Partnership Working and Positive Outcomes: Work with criminal justice and support agencies to help residents achieve positive outcomes
- Emergency Responsibilities: Act as Fire Warden and First Aider when required
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Essential

- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Understanding of safeguarding
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to work the rotating shift pattern covering days, nights, weekends and bank holidays
- Empathetic, resilient and calm under pressure, with the ability to handle confidential information sensitively and maintain professional boundaries
- Confident communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds
Desirable
- Experience in residential care or supporting women
- Experience in criminal justice or behaviour change
- Experience in housing support or supporting people with multiple or complex needs
- Experience delivering group facilitation or one-to-one support
- Experience gained in mental health, substance misuse, homelessness, youth work, domestic abuse, community or voluntary services
