An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a thriving, regional Civil Engineering contractor in the South West following a phenomenal period of growth, including a 40% increase in turnover over the last 12 months.

Back-to-back project wins and continued regional expansion have secured a high-profile, prestigious scheme in Bristol. As a result, our client is seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to lead and deliver the full project lifecycle from inception through to completion.

If you are looking to advance your career with a forward-thinking contractor that truly values its workforce, promotes a supportive culture, and puts site health & safety at the forefront of everything they do, this is the ideal move for you.

As Project Manager you will:

  • Site & Operational Leadership: Manage day-to-day civil engineering site operations, supervising workforce productivity, materials delivery, and sub-contractors.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance: Maintain full compliance with H&S plans (including RAMS), secure necessary permits/licenses, and champion high safety standards across site activities.
  • Project Planning & Delivery: Develop comprehensive work schedules and phase plans to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.
  • Commercial & Budgetary Control: Manage project resources—manpower, equipment, and materials—monitoring budgets to prevent overspend and managing material ordering/reconciliation.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, holding regular progress meetings, providing detailed reports, and maintaining strong professional relationships.
  • Team Management & Development: Lead, direct, and recruit site personnel and subcontractors; conduct quarterly 1:1s and manage ongoing training and development.

Our client requires a Project Manager with:

  • Proven Track Record: Extensive experience as a Construction Project Manager, successfully delivering civil engineering or construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, material management, site logistics, and core project management principles.
  • Planning & Programming: Highly proficient in construction programming, project scheduling tools, and timeline management.
  • Commercial & Stakeholder Negotiation: Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills to influence stakeholders, manage clients, and coordinate contractors effectively.
  • Organisation & Time Management: Superior organisational abilities to balance competing priorities, control budgets, and drive strict deadlines on site.
  • Leadership & Team Collaboration: Natural leader with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to motivating site teams and managing personnel.

Salary:  Up to £80,000 per annum

Benefits: Car allowance, 25 days annual leave (exc bank holidays), company pension etc

Location:  Project based in Bristol (close to M5/M4)
