About the Role

Pentagon is proud to partner with one of the UK's top 50 law firms to recruit a talented and experienced Commercial Pricing Manager. This is a newly created role, offering the opportunity to shape and embed pricing best practices while driving profitable growth across the organisation.

As a trusted commercial business partner, you will play a pivotal role in supporting bids, key accounts, and innovative pricing solutions. You will also act as a custodian of tools and platforms that enable high-quality decision-making at speed.

Key Responsibilities of the Commercial Pricing Manager

• Trusted Pricing Adviser:
  • Provide commercial advice on pricing strategies for priority pursuits, panels, and key client opportunities.
  • Support the structuring and negotiation of complex fee arrangements, including alternative fee models.
  • Participate in discussions to articulate and defend value, improve negotiation outcomes, and shape commercial positioning.
• Commercial Analysis and Decision Support:
  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate pricing scenarios and outcomes.
  • Analyse pricing performance and profitability at various levels, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop service-specific pricing options aligned with delivery models and key drivers.
• Training and Capability Building:
  • Deliver training programmes to upskill finance business partners, partners, and fee earners.
  • Act as a centre of excellence for pricing expertise.
• Market Engagement and Innovation:
  • Stay updated on market trends, competitor strategies, and client expectations.
  • Contribute to pricing strategies for emerging products and service models, including AI-related offerings.
• Operational Excellence:
  • Support the end-to-end process from opportunity to cash, including scope and working capital management.
  • Participate in client onboarding workshops.

Experience Required of the Commercial Pricing Manager

• Proven experience in pricing and commercial finance within a professional services environment.
• Strong understanding of pricing models and their impact on profitability.
• Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and influence pricing strategies.
• Skilled in data analysis, financial modelling, and business intelligence tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
• Experience in designing and delivering training programmes.
• Knowledge of scope management and matter tracking.
• Familiarity with pricing tools and technology.
