The Opportunity

Walker & Sloan is recruiting a Contracts Manager to join an established regional main contractor in Bristol.

You’ll oversee multiple building projects, supporting site teams and taking responsibility for programme, quality and client relationships. This would suit you if you enjoy combining practical construction knowledge with the wider planning and coordination needed to keep projects running successfully.

Role Overview

You’ll manage projects from pre-start planning through to completion, ensuring each team has the resources, information and direction needed to deliver.

Working closely with site managers, you’ll review programmes, monitor progress and address risks before they affect key milestones. You’ll coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, oversee site standards and maintain a consistent focus on health and safety.

You’ll work alongside the commercial team to review project performance, manage change and understand the financial implications of delivery decisions. You’ll also liaise with design colleagues and consultants to resolve outstanding information and buildability issues.

As a key client contact, you’ll lead progress meetings, provide clear updates and manage expectations throughout the works. Your involvement will continue through snagging, handover and the resolution of any outstanding items.

About You

You’ll have experience delivering building projects within a main contracting environment, ideally with responsibility for multiple sites. You may already be a Contracts Manager or an experienced Senior Project Manager ready to take on a broader remit.

Your background should include new build or refurbishment projects, with a sound understanding of construction methods, sequencing and subcontractor coordination.

You’ll be comfortable leading site teams, challenging progress where necessary and finding practical solutions. Commercial awareness, clear communication and the ability to build strong client relationships will be central to your success.

You’ll be joining an established Bristol-based regional main contractor undertaking new build and refurbishment projects. The role will bring you into regular contact with the business’s commercial, design and site delivery teams.
