An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Strategic Buyer to join a market-leading engineering and technology business. This role has become available due to an internal promotion and offers excellent long-term career prospects within a highly ambitious and expanding organisation.

Working closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams, you will be responsible for managing direct procurement activities across a range of engineering-related categories, ensuring best value, quality, and supplier performance while supporting the delivery of cutting-edge products to a global customer base.

With approximately 200 employees and an international customer and supplier network spanning Europe, North America, and Asia, the company offers a collaborative, non-hierarchical environment.

The Role

• Managing supplier relationships across a portfolio of direct engineering spend categories.
• Negotiating pricing, contracts, and commercial agreements to secure the best value for the business.
• Sourcing, evaluating, and onboarding new suppliers while maintaining strong relationships with existing partners.
• Managing spend across engineering components, bespoke manufactured parts, sub-assemblies, and associated categories - approx £2m /year
• Monitoring supplier performance and driving continuous improvement
• Collaborating with engineering and production teams to understand project requirements and support operational delivery.
• Managing supplier forecasts, delivery schedules, and inventory requirements to minimise supply chain risk.
• Conducting market and commodity analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate supply chain challenges.
• Supporting procurement projects and wider supply chain improvement initiatives.
• Reviewing engineering change requests and maintaining procurement data within business systems.
• Ensuring compliance with procurement policies, governance requirements, and supplier performance standards.
• Contributing towards cost reduction and value engineering initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Around 3-5 years' experience within a procurement, buying, or supply chain role.
• Experience purchasing direct engineering or manufacturing-related materials and components.
• A proactive approach with the confidence to take initiative and solve problems independently.
• Experience working within a fast-paced engineering, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, technology, or similar environment.
• The ambition to learn, develop, and progress within a growing business.
• Experience using Microsoft Dynamics or a similar ERP system is an advantage
