We are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Support Worker to join a specialist recovery service supporting adults across Bristol.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience working within supported housing, homelessness, substance misuse, addiction recovery or community support.

The Role

You will be supporting individuals at different stages of their recovery journey, helping them develop independence and work towards positive, sustainable change.

The role will involve supporting service users across a variety of settings, including recovery houses, supported accommodation and individuals' own homes, with some work potentially taking place within drug and alcohol units.

You will provide practical and emotional support, build positive relationships with service users and help them engage with their recovery and move towards greater independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing person-centred support to adults within a recovery setting
  • Supporting individuals with drug and alcohol-related needs
  • Helping service users develop independence and life skills
  • Supporting individuals to maintain their accommodation and engage with services
  • Working across different locations throughout Bristol
  • Maintaining accurate records and completing relevant documentation
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals
  • Promoting safeguarding and the wellbeing of service users

Requirements

  • Previous experience within housing support, supported accommodation, homelessness, substance misuse, addiction recovery or a similar environment
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A compassionate, non-judgemental approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
  • Flexibility to work across different locations
  • A driving licence is not essential

Working Pattern

The standard working hours are 9:00am–4:30pm, Monday to Friday, although there is some flexibility around start times.

You will also be required to work one 5-hour weekend shift on a rota, either Saturday or Sunday.

Female applicants are preferred for this role, although this is not essential.

Interested?

If you have experience supporting people affected by substance misuse, homelessness or within a recovery environment and are available for a temporary assignment in Bristol, we would love to hear from you.
