Overview
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Hydraulic Engineer to join a well-established engineering business based in Avonmouth, Bristol.
The company has recently invested in and purchased a new unit, creating an exciting opportunity to develop and grow its hydraulic engineering offering. As part of this expansion, they are looking for someone who can take ownership of the hydraulic side of the business and help spearhead its development.
This is a hands-on and varied position covering the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault-finding of hydraulic systems across industrial and manufacturing environments.
You’ll work alongside mechanical, electrical and controls engineers, supporting a range of projects and helping shape how the hydraulic side of the business develops as the company grows.
The role would suit an experienced Hydraulic Engineer who enjoys getting involved technically, solving problems and having a genuine influence on the direction of a growing operation.
Former Armed Forces personnel are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly those with transferable mechanical, hydraulic or engineering experience but all candidates will be given careful consideration.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve hydraulic faults on industrial machinery and equipment
- Carry out hydraulic calculations, system testing and performance analysis
- Support installation, commissioning and refurbishment projects
- Produce technical documentation, drawings and engineering reports
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical and controls engineering teams
- Liaise with clients, suppliers and internal engineering teams
- Provide technical support throughout project delivery and maintenance activities
- Help develop and improve the company's hydraulic capabilities
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with relevant health and safety standards
- Support continuous improvement and engineering best practice
Candidate Requirements
- Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering or a related discipline
- Previous experience working with hydraulic systems within an industrial, manufacturing, process or heavy engineering environment
- Strong understanding of hydraulic circuits, pumps, valves, cylinders and power packs
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and engineering drawings
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Good problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Full UK Driving Licence
