Finance Director – The Role

This is a pivotal opportunity for an experienced Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership to a high-growth financial services business. Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Board, you will help design and deliver the Group’s financial roadmap while leading the finance function, strengthening financial control and providing clear, actionable management information.


The role offers the opportunity to evolve into a Group CFO position as the business scales.


Key responsibilities will include:

• Partnering with the CEO and Board to design and deliver the financial roadmap for growth;

• Developing and maintaining a robust 3–5 year integrated financial model aligned to organic and acquisition growth;

• Providing rigorous financial analysis, scenario planning and commercial insight to support strategic decision-making;

• Preparing and presenting monthly Board packs, KPI analysis, variance reporting and commercial insight to Executive and Non-Executive Directors;

• Setting the framework and standards for management information, including KPI dashboards covering funds under management growth, revenue yield, adviser productivity, margins and cash performance;

• Leading budgeting, forecasting and strategic variance analysis, together with peer-group benchmarking of key financial ratios;

• Taking Board-level accountability for financial governance, including FCA capital adequacy calculations, forecasts, stress testing and escalation of any headroom pressure;

• Maintaining forward-looking capital and liquidity forecasts and ensuring compliance with HMRC, Companies House and audit obligations;

• Setting liquidity planning strategy, reviewing cashflow forecasts and supporting funding strategy for growth initiatives and acquisitions;

• Leading financial modelling, evaluation and due diligence for acquisition opportunities, with external advisers where appropriate;

• Establishing post-acquisition reporting frameworks and monitoring earnouts, synergies and post-deal performance;

• Driving improvements to financial systems, processes, automation and reporting consistency across Group entities;

• Leading, mentoring and developing the internal finance team while maintaining investor-readiness as the Group scales.

The Successful Applicant

As Finance Director, you will be an ambitious and commercially minded finance leader with strong technical capability and the confidence to operate at Board level. You will be comfortable working strategically while ensuring the finance function provides robust control, high-quality management information and practical support to a scaling business.


Key attributes include:

• ACA, ACCA or CA qualified Chartered Accountant;

• Prior experience operating at Finance Director level;

• Advanced financial modelling and forecasting capability;

• Strong experience producing and presenting Board-level management information;

• Working knowledge of FCA prudential and capital adequacy requirements, including IFPR and ICARA;

• Strong commercial judgement and strategic thinking skills;

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial information for a Board audience;

• Confidence to challenge constructively at Board level and operate calmly under pressure.

Additional Requirements:

• Experience within wealth management, financial services or another recurring revenue business would be advantageous;

• Experience within an acquisitive or scaling business, including exposure to M&A transactions, would be highly beneficial;

• Experience mentoring and developing finance team members into more senior roles;

• Ambitious, growth-oriented and commercially curious, with a strong focus on building long-term enterprise value.
