Reed Accountancy are delighted to be partnering with an innovative, leading organisation to recruit a Grants Accountant to join their Finance team.This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant with experience in grants, project accounting, management accounting, or audit who enjoys working with financial data, reporting, compliance, and a wide range of stakeholders.
In this role, you'll be responsible for the end-to-end management of grant-funded activities, ensuring grant claims are accurate, compliant, and submitted on time, while supporting audits, reporting, and grant monitoring.
The Role
Working closely with Project Managers, operational teams, funders, and auditors, you'll play a key role in preparing grant claims, maintaining grant charge rates, reconciling grant activity, and monitoring grant expenditure.
You'll also contribute to improving finance processes, ensuring a high level of accuracy and compliance across all grant-funded activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit grant claims in line with funder requirements.
- Manage grant claims from start to finish, including grant audits and external grant systems.
- Liaise with external auditors and grant funders.
- Calculate and maintain labour, equipment, and overhead recovery rates.
- Ensure grant charge rates are accurate, documented, and maintained within D365.
- Produce monthly reconciliations between grant claims and the General Ledger.
- Support Catapult and other internal and external reporting requirements.
- Monitor grant expenditure and provide regular updates to budget holders.
- Support the annual Core grant allocation process.
- Work with stakeholders across the business to improve the accuracy and efficiency of grant processes.
- Provide support during statutory audits, including the preparation of audit information and samples.
- Provide cover for the Stakeholder Accountant when required.
Desirable
- Experience working in a grant-funded or project-based environment.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O).
- Knowledge of Innovate UK or similar grant funding programmes.
- Project management experience.
