This is a General Manager role that offers oversight of multiple business units, short term challenge, long term growth and equity in a fast growing progressive group structured business. We are building something new and its all geared around ensuring science can run without interruption!
 
BASIC SALARY: Up to £150,000 per annum

LOCATION: Home based, ideally Midlands or South of the UK, depending on your location you may have a site based contract as we grow and acquire more businesses.

JOB DESCRIPTION: General Manager - Testing & Inspection, Medical & Pharmaceutical
 
We need a hands on driven individual who can help bring our acquisitions together and ensure we maintain their performance whilst ultimately improving them and integrating them into our company. We selected the businesses we buy for their reputation and success and we need someone who can understand the nuance of each of these companies and ensure we retain the positives and improves on areas that can be refined. This role will require someone to wear many hats, travel throughout the UK and Ireland and be capable of making both business critical and sometimes hard decisions. This isn't a role where you can hide, you need to be visible and accountable at all times.
 
You will:
· Quickly install KPIs for acquired businesses to ensure safety, quality, on time delivery and lead times are measured daily
· Protect the customers, our aim is to retain 100% of customers through transition
· Own the Profit & Loss across each of the acquired businesses
· If needed, upgrade the teams and build a refined succession plan at each site to protect the future
· Be on site and be visible
· Set the standard of operating discipline, quality and continuous improvement across the sites
 
PERSON SPECIFICATION: General Manager - Testing & Inspection, Medical & Pharmaceutical
 
To be a success in this General Manager role, you will be a people leader who is hands on and someone who sets the bar for others to aspire to. You will also be a commercial leader, this journey will be challenging and varied so you will have to enjoy the unpredictability of Mergers and Acquisitions and the demands of a growing commercial business.

You will have:
· A long track record of manging a P&L (c£25m+) ideally across multiple sites or businesses
· An appreciation of lean methodologies or some form of qualification of these principles
· A hands on approach to management
· Exposure to M&A work and process would be a distinct advantage
· Any exposure to the Scientific, medical or pharmaceutical industries could be beneficial

We are growing at an exceptional rate and in around 4 years we have acquired 25 companies internationally and we aren't slowing down!
 
PROSPECTS:
 
We are rapidly growing and out aim is to become a major player in our market, our target is market leader. We are in the process of going through various M&A processes to increase our footprint across the UK and as part of that we will look to grow into Europe, this role will be integral in that and could well be our point person across Europe.
