The Opportunity

The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for delivering critical sub-systems from external suppliers into a complex defence system. These sub-systems incorporate high-power optical technologies alongside sophisticated electro-optical and mechanical assemblies which form part of a larger integrated capability.

Reporting to a Chief Systems Engineer, the role will focus on supplier management, technical acceptance, integration, assembly and testing activities. Previous experience of delivering and integrating complex sub-systems would be beneficial, alongside an understanding of electro-optical, mechanical or high-technology engineering systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing technical and programme interfaces with external suppliers.
  • Supporting the acceptance, delivery and integration of critical sub-systems into the wider system architecture.
  • Coordinating functional integration activities across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Contributing to ongoing capability development and technology maturation initiatives.
  • Supporting system assembly, integration, verification and testing activities.
What We're Looking For

We are interested in candidates who can demonstrate experience in:

  • Managing third-party suppliers and defining technical statements of work and deliverables.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships across engineering, project and supplier teams.
  • Leading technical work packages and balancing technical risks, cost and schedule considerations.
  • Supporting complex system integration and delivery activities within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Working within systems engineering frameworks throughout the project lifecycle.

Benefits

  • Annual bonus scheme
  • Competitive pension contribution scheme
  • Paid overtime opportunities
  • Up to 15 additional flexi leave days per year
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies, including maternity, adoption, shared parental and paternity leave
  • Healthcare cash plan covering everyday medical expenses
  • On-site facilities including subsidised meals and free parking
  • Excellent opportunities for training, professional development and career progression
