POSITION SUMMARY:

The International Logistics Specialist will be responsible for international logistics between UK/USA and the following:

  • Oversee and coordinate import and export activities from initiation through to completion.
  • Communicate regularly with freight forwarders and shipping providers across the UK and overseas.
  • Prepare and process commercial invoices, packing lists, Shipper's Letters of Instruction (SLIs), Certificates of Origin (COOs), and all other necessary shipping documentation for exports from both the UK and USA.
  • Organise and control all domestic transportation to and from UK-based suppliers.
  • Work closely with internal departments, including Accounts, while maintaining effective communication with external customers.
  • Provide support to the US shipping team by sharing logistics expertise, pricing information, and customs-related guidance.
  • Audit and maintain tariff code usage to ensure the correct classifications are being applied.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance logistics processes and provide recommendations relating to customs procedures, duty management, deferment accounts, and Incoterms.
  • Submit international export declarations through CDS when required.
  • Stay informed of current logistics legislation and regulatory changes affecting the UK, US, and customer destination countries.
  • Track and evaluate the performance of UK and US freight forwarding partners, conducting regular review meetings where appropriate.
  • Undertake any additional duties as reasonably required.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience within logistics and shipping, including international air freight and sea freight operations.
  • Understanding of imports and associated duties.
  • Knowledge of import and export customs processes.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Proven customer service experience.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Desirable

  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Background working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Awareness and understanding of the impact of Brexit on logistics and trade operations.
