Business Development Manager - Bristol

This is an office base role with visits to clients when needed

• Manage a portfolio of named and target accounts, identifying and converting new business opportunities.
• Develop new customer relationships and secure new revenue in line with agreed targets.
• Build strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with internal product, operations and commercial teams to develop customer solutions.
• Understand customers' supply chain requirements and identify opportunities to improve their logistics processes.
• Create and present value-added logistics solutions, including process mapping, cost analysis and supporting proposals.
• Coordinate the onboarding of new customers, ensuring a smooth transition into the operational team.
• Maintain accurate and timely records within the company's CRM system.
• Work closely with colleagues across different locations and departments to deliver customer solutions.
• Stay up to date with freight forwarding, logistics and supply chain market trends.
• Support accounts receivable activities where required.
• Attend relevant training and development sessions to continually improve sales and industry knowledge.
• Take on additional responsibilities and projects as required by the business.

The successful candidate will be a confident and commercially focused sales professional with a strong understanding of the freight forwarding and logistics industry.

You will ideally have:

• Minimum 5 years' sales experience, within freight forwarding, logistics or supply chain.
• Strong knowledge of supply chain terminology, processes and commercial cost drivers.
• Proven experience developing new business and winning new customers.
• Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
• Strong negotiation, presentation and influencing abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written English.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with wider teams.
• A proactive, self-motivated and results-driven approach.
• Confidence meeting customers and prospects off-site on a regular basis.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and confidence using CRM systems and other computer-based applications.
• A sense of urgency and accountability for achieving commercial targets.
• Confident, enthusiastic and persuasive personality with the ability to influence decision-makers.
