About the Opportunity:

Based out of Bristol with travel across UK manufacturing and construction sites (including Hinkley Point C and Broughton), the Project Quality Engineer will assist the Project Quality Manager and Senior Project Quality Manager in establishing and maintaining project quality assurance measures.

In this role, you will champion a "Right First Time" operational mindset, audit manufacturing and installation activities against Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), track quality performance KPIs, and resolve technical quality topics across project scopes.



Key Responsibilities:



Quality Assurance & Operational Controls

  • Process Compliance: Assist in developing, reviewing, and maintaining project processes, ensuring delivery teams strictly adhere to established procedures and ITPs.

  • Inspection Oversight: Check that manufacturing and installation activities meet specification requirements, including non-destructive testing (NDT), dimensional checks, and quality records.

  • Proactive Resolution: Identify quality topics early, suggest corrective actions to prevent recurrence, and actively chase open quality actions with designated action owners.



Quality Metrics & Performance Reporting

  • KPI Management: Develop, manage, and analyse data related to quality Key Performance Indicators (Safety First, On Time, On Spec, On Budget, Customer Satisfaction).

  • Reporting: Prepare formal performance reports and provide constructive feedback to project leadership regarding quality trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Continuous Improvement: Apply Lean principles to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and optimize quality performance across delivery sites.



Site Support & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Site Visits: Travel to supplier manufacturing facilities, internal workshops, and project construction sites to verify quality, process standards, and delivery capacity.

  • Team Training: Become fully versed in company policies, assisting in training project teams to adhere to operational and quality guidelines.



Candidate Profile:



Requirements & Experience

  • Quality Program Implementation: Strong background implementing quality programs within complex manufacturing, mechanical fabrication, or construction environments.

  • Continuous Improvement: Practical experience applying Lean Manufacturing methodologies and fact-based problem-solving techniques.

  • Standards Expertise: Sound working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 19443 (quality management for the nuclear supply chain) quality standards.

  • IT Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) for data analytics, KPI management, and reporting.

  • Mobility: Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites, project locations, and suppliers across the UK.



Desirable Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Degree (BSc/BEng or equivalent) in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.

  • Nuclear & Technical Standards: Familiarity with Nuclear New Build requirements, RCC-M codes, and modern welding/fabrication procedures.

  • Language Skills: Fluency in French (written and verbal) is advantageous alongside fluent English.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building collaborative relationships across manufacturing, quality control, and client teams.
