Job Title: Tool Engineer

Working Pattern: Days (9 Day Fortnight)

Working location: Bristol

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Tool Engineer to join the Shadow Works team within Defence in Bristol.

As a Tooling Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving tooling and fixtures to support production efficiency, quality and safety. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to deliver solutions that meet the demands of a high-performance production environment.

What you will be doing:
  • Support new product introduction with tooling concepts, development and validation.
  • Track and manage Government owned assets and tooling used within the facility.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of tooling related issues and implement corrective action.
  • Oversee calibration control to ensure compliance.
  • Support layout improvements within the production environment to enhance workflow, efficiency, and space utilisation.
  • Management and tracking of lifting related tooling within the facility.
  • Conduct, manage and control COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and safety risk assessments for the business.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety standards.

To be successful in this role you will need to:
  • You will have a completed a recognised Engineering apprenticeship and hold a relevant NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in tooling control, preferably within the aerospace, automotive or precision engineering environments.
  • An understanding of CAD and/or the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Hands-on approach and ability to work cross-functionally in fast paced environments.
  • A proactive problem solver with strong communication and collaborative skills.
  • Experience in safety risk assessments and supporting safety compliance standards.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines, an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance.
