What you will be doing
- Performing system safety assessments on complex electrical power generation and distribution systems to aerospace standards.
- Identifying hazards and failure conditions, maintaining hazard logs, and driving mitigations through to design implementation.
- Defining functional safety requirements and flowing them down to designers, customers, and suppliers - then verifying compliance throughout development.
- Supporting parts classification and working with design/system teams to ensure reliability targets are met.
- Modelling product degradation and failure mechanisms using deterministic and probabilistic techniques to characterise risk.
What we are looking for
- Degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, aerospace, or equivalent discipline.
- Experience conducting fault tree analysis, FMECAs, common cause assessments, and hazard/failure-condition identification on complex systems
- Working knowledge of ARP4761 (or comparable standards such as ISO 26262) and ideally compliance demonstration to CS25-1309, Def-Stan-970, or equivalent regulations.
- Proficiency with safety/reliability tools (e.g. Reliability Workbench, Block Sim, Lambda Predict) and requirement management tooling.
- Strong foundation in statistics, probability, and reliability prediction - with aerospace or defence domain experience a distinct advantage.
