Commercial Finance Analyst - #2130087
Robert Half
Robert Half is seeking a commercially minded Commercial Finance Analyst to join The Wave, the UK's first inland surf destination on the edge of Bristol. This newly created role is the first dedicated analytical seat in the business, working directly with the CFO and Heads of Department to get ahead of the numbers rather than reading them after the fact. It is a hands-on, commercial role rather than a technical accounting one, and there is no chartered requirement.
Role
- Run monthly business reviews with Heads of Department across Surf, Food & Beverage, Retail, Accommodation, Camps and Events
- Own variance reporting, KPI packs and written commentary on what has moved and why
- Lead the annual budget process and own the rolling forecast, including trading, seasonality and capital timing
- Analyse pricing, yield and capacity, including lake mix design and occupancy
- Redesign and automate daily flash reporting, replacing the current manual process
As Commercial Finance Analyst, you will be the primary finance user of a new data platform and a strong voice in how reporting is designed.
Profile
- Two to five years in commercial finance, FP&A, business analysis or a similar analytical role
- Demonstrable experience of budgeting and forecasting, not just reporting the result
- Advanced Excel skills, building models rather than maintaining someone else's
- Experience with a BI tool such as Power BI, Tableau or Qlik
- Confident presenting and defending analysis in a room, including when challenged
This Commercial Finance Analyst role suits someone who takes a view rather than stopping at the numbers, and who is comfortable being the only analyst in the room.
Company
- The Wave is a world-class wave pool surrounded by open water, woodland, a campsite and safari tents, on the edge of Bristol
- Built around wellbeing, nature and community, with a purpose to nurture health, hope and happiness with every wave
- A small, close-knit team where you will see the whole business, not one slice of it
- Direct access to the Controller, CFO and Heads of Department
- Guided by The Wave's values, We Are FAIR: Fun, Adventurous, Impact and Respect
Coming into The Wave as Commercial Finance Analyst, you would have real ownership from day one and no existing template to inherit, with a data platform being built around the reporting you design.
Salary and Benefits
- Competitive salary of £40,000 to £45,000 depending on experience
- Hybrid working, with two days in the office and three days from home
- 30 days paid holiday, inclusive of bank holidays
- Study support available for CIMA, ACCA, ACA or AAT, with the details discussed with shortlisted candidates
- Free staff surf sessions, subsidised lunches and a range of discounts across food, drink and other offerings
This Commercial Finance Analyst package at The Wave also includes a NEST pension and genuine scope to shape how finance reporting works across the business.
