A leading specialist intellectual property practice is looking to strengthen its team with the appointment of a Senior Associate specialising in Patent Litigation. The firm acts for a range of international clients across the life sciences sector and has an established reputation for handling complex, high-value and multi-jurisdictional IP disputes. This is an opportunity to join a highly experienced team working at the forefront of developments in European patent litigation.
The successful candidate will play a key role in complex patent litigation matters, with a particular focus on life sciences. You will be involved in high-value disputes before the Unified Patent Court (UPC) and UK High Court, alongside multi-jurisdictional litigation across Europe and other key international markets. The role offers significant client exposure and the opportunity to work closely with leading practitioners on sophisticated and strategically important patent disputes.
Responsibilities:
- Acting on complex patent litigation matters within the life sciences sector
- Handling proceedings before the UPC and UK High Court
- Managing and contributing to multi-jurisdictional patent disputes
- Developing litigation strategies for complex international matters
- Drafting pleadings, submissions, correspondence and other legal documents
- Analysing complex legal, technical and scientific issues
- Working closely with experts, counsel and international legal teams
- Advising international clients on patent enforcement and litigation strategy
- Managing elements of complex cases and taking responsibility for client matters
- Supporting business development, pitches and the development of client relationships
Requirements:
- Qualified UK Solicitor or Barrister with substantial patent litigation experience
- Senior Associate level experience within a leading IP or litigation practice
- Strong experience in life sciences patent litigation
- Proven experience of UK High Court patent litigation
- Experience with, or strong knowledge of, UPC proceedings
- Experience working on multi-jurisdictional patent disputes
- Excellent legal analysis, drafting and advocacy skills
- Strong understanding of complex technical and scientific issues
- Ability to manage sophisticated matters and work effectively with international teams
- Commercially minded with excellent client management skills
