Booth Welsh has an exciting contract opportunity available for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to work with a client operating in the nuclear industry.

Job Purpose / Overview

The Pressure Compliance Mechanical Engineer will report to the Pressure System Completions and Integration Manager and will take responsibility for managing the pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements on behalf of a specific scope identified by the Pressure System Completions and Integration Manager and Pressure Compliance Lead, ensuring appropriate implementation and compliance to meet site project needs.

The role will require good technical and organisational capabilities to effectively interface with Project Managers and relevant stakeholders in the programme, the ONR, third party organisations and support the supply chain in delivery.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Support the development and maintenance of the pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements for their appointed work scope

(normally specific projects within a programme).

  • Ensure that project policies, processes and contracts are implemented and delivered to the right quality to manage pressure systems regulation and

structural integrity safety case requirements.

  • Responsible for arbitration and technical decisions on site’s behalf in regards to pressure systems regulation and structural integrity compliance for their

programme.

  • Manage on behalf of the Programme Pressure Compliance Lead the pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements.
  • Maintain personnel SQEP status to support nuclear baseline requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Knowledge

  •      Managing structural integrity and pressure regulation compliance requirements in the nuclear industry.
  •      Mechanical engineering design and operation of pressure equipment specifically built to RCC-M or ASME codes.
  •      Working in a multidisciplinary and matrix environment.
  •      Working with regulators and supply chain companies to coach through the pressure compliance process.
  •      Knowledge of the nuclear industry would be a plus.
  •      Knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to plant in the UK would be a plus.

Skills

  • Ability to be focussed on the requirements of the project, to show a ‘can-do’ approach to work and to work independently or with others to achieve the t

team goals.

  •      Ability to credibly interact with various stakeholders and to influence the internal teams and contractor partners, working in matrix organisation.
