The Role
This is a varied role where you will manage DSAR matters and support the delivery of data protection projects from initial instruction through to completion.
You will be trusted to manage your own caseload, work to key deadlines and ensure information is reviewed thoroughly and accurately.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing Data Subject Access Requests from receipt through to completion
- Reviewing potentially large volumes of documentation and information
- Identifying information requiring redaction and applying relevant exemptions
- Assessing new requests and determining the scope of work required
- Managing deadlines and prioritising competing workloads
- Keeping clear and accurate records of decisions and actions
- Liaising with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders
- Providing regular updates on the progress of matters
- Checking work completed by other team members where required
- Supporting and guiding more junior colleagues
- Using document review and legal technology systems
- Keeping an eye on time, cost and quality throughout each piece of work
- Suggesting improvements to processes and working practices
The Person
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who already have practical experience dealing with Data Subject Access Requests and are comfortable taking ownership of their work.
You will ideally have:
- Previous Data Protection and DSAR experience
- Experience reviewing and redacting documentation
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- The ability to manage deadlines and take ownership of matters
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team
- Experience using document review, e-disclosure or similar technology would be advantageous
This could suit an experienced Paralegal who is ready to take on more responsibility, or an established Senior Paralegal looking for their next opportunity.
Salary
£27,000 – £31,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours
Full-time, Monday to Friday.
This is a permanent position offering hybrid working, combining home working with time in the Bristol office.
